India have a 100% win record at this venue winning all their six ODIs.
We've made a few changes to our Fantasy XI. Check it out and lock your teams...
B0$ When I was sitting inside, I was actually visualising if we need about 125 runs, what will be my approach. I have practised what I did yesterday in the last five-six sessions. I wanted to see what I can do without playing a single sweep shot if I bat for about 40-50 balls and really got good confidence with the last game. (On playing conventional shots) I have done that a lot in first-class cricket, whatever cricket I've played for Mumbai in Ranji Trophy I used to do that. I just recalled all of it and thought if I can do this again, then nothing like it. I was thinking about what's going wrong in this format, everything remains the same, white ball is the same, the colour of clothing is the same, I got a lot of learnings from my team management. They said, 'you just have stretch your innings, take a little bit more time, try and bat a little more deep and see what happens.' I was actually a little relieved, what I had been practising back in four-five sessions, I replicated the same thing in the game and it worked out really well. Hopefully the plan remains the same.

B0$ We would have bowled first as well considering the size of the ground. Good wicket, good challenge to put runs on the board. We only have one change from the last game. Jasprit is rested, Prasidh comes in. Good for all our batters to spend some time in the middle.
B0$ We'll bowl. It's pretty warn. Looks a nice wicket, fancy chasing. If it (dew) comes in, it'll help while chasing. We want to win but we also want to try out a different combination. We've got a few changes.
Steve Smith has come out for the toss. So, he'll be leading the Aussies today.

B0$ Dimensions - the side boundaries are in the early 60s, that's pretty short. For batters batting behind square, we are getting into the 55 metre zone. We've got a consistent surface. A little bit drier than last match but hard. We are going to see a very high scoring game. It's going to be tough work for the quick bowlers. It's a beautiful, even surface, look for a lot of balls to go over the boundary. If you put a big total on the board, your spinners come into play.
B0$ Here's an update from BCCI on X - "Mr Jasprit Bumrah did not travel with the team to Indore for the 2nd ODI against Australia. He has gone to visit his family and given a short break by the team management. Fast bowler B1$ has joined the team as Bumrah's replacement for the 2nd ODI. Bumrah will join the team for the final ODI in Rajkot."
B0$ It was a challenging wicket (at Mohali), but it was nice to spend a little bit of time in the middle. I am glad that my wrist is recovered, feeling good. Looking forward to everything that's coming up. It (type of wicket) doesn't bother me, just play what's in front of you and with what's coming up, there's potential that we are going to play on some wickets like the one we had the other night. It's good practice for me and the rest of the boys as well. I'll bat wherever, I do enjoy batting at three, I've spent most of my career there in one-day cricket. That's my favourite spot. (Playing in India) Most of the guys have played a lot of cricket here now whether it be for Australia or in the IPl. They've experienced the conditions a fair amount of time, there's not too many surprises but it's a wonderful place to play, that's for sure.
B0$ Hello everyone and a warm welcome to the second of the three ODIs between India and Australia. India ticked a lot of boxes in the opening game of the series. Shami, whose spot in the strongest Indian XI is debatable, picked up a fifer in Mohali for which he was awarded in the Player of the Match. With the bat, although both the openers scored 70s, the team management would have been pleased with the way KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav batted under pressure and notched up their respective fifties. Shreyas Iyer is the only one yet to fire. If he can do that, Rahul Dravid and Co. will have a good selection headache heading into the World Cup. Australia, on the other hand, have now lost four ODIs in a row. Six of their top seven batters got starts but none of them kicked on. In the bowling department, captain Cummins was the most economical bowler and Adam Zampa picked up two crucial wickets, however the others weren't effective. Indore is a high-scoring venue and we could witness another run-feast here. Stick around, toss and team updates coming up shortly...

A no. 1 trifecta isn't the worst way to begin proceedings for a home World Cup. Especially when the metaphorical base is otherwise shaky with injury troubles, selection dilemmas, form trouble, and the problem of plenty. India are now the no. 1 ranked team in all three formats after the win in Mohali - a run-chase where they took it deep and finished the job effectively, with four half-centurions in the batting order.

India couldn't have timed it better. KL Rahul has a pressure hundred and an unbeaten captain's half-century under his belt. Suryakumar Yadav not only has a run against his name after four innings against Australia, he also scored a fifty at quicker than a run-a-ball -- an innings where he admitted to "playing slower and taking it deep".

Shreyas Iyer is on the field. Two Indian pacers have taken five-wicket hauls in two consecutive ODIs, both in winning causes. No one is exactly out of form, even though Iyer lacks game time, and India's first choice XI remains a mystery.

Nevertheless, India are roaring at the right time.

Australia, however, have had a bit of an aberration. The loss against India was their fourth on the trot in ODI cricket - an anomaly in a World Cup year for the five-time champions. In fact, in the lead-up to the 2019 World Cup, Australia made a 3-2 comeback after being 0-2 down against India. This time, however, Australia were dealt a dose of their own medicine by South Africa - beating Australia 3-2, after being 0-2 down.

The batting, despite the crucial absence of Travis Head, showed tremendous grit, with all the batters getting off to starts, but none of them converting it into a big hundred - and there are at least three capable of doing so on a consistent basis - Warner, Smith, and Labuschagne. The bowling, admittedly, has had its chinks, but they have two ODIs against the hosts and two warm-ups left before their campaign begins. Moreover, the bowling attack has kept its lethal weapon safe in the changeroom.

Australia knows its shortcomings, and have come well prepared. It's World Cup year, and it's a crime to write Australia off.

B3$Runs. Oh, so many runs. Indore has seen some extraordinary innings played, including Virender Sehwag's once-highest ODI score of 219 in 2011, and Rohit Sharma's ridiculous 36-ball hundred against Sri Lanka in 2018. 400+ ODI scores, 250+ T20I scores. Expect an absolute road, and a major test for the bowlers in preparation for the World Cup, and the best possible opportunity for out-of-sorts batters to get some runs under their belts. Especially with straight boundaries shorter than 70 meters, and square boundaries shorter than 60 meters will certainly test the spinners who dare to bowl.

With Kuldeep Yadav continuing his rest period, Ravichandran Ashwin should get another game given his impressive spell in the first. India will hope that Iyer and Kishan get back amongst the runs. However, the bowlers are likely to be rotated around again. With a gap of just two days between ODIs, it seems prudent to rest Jasprit Bumrah and play Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami in Indore.

Cummins had said after ODI series opener that Starc won't be ready for the second game yet, meaning Australia could likely stick to the same XI.

- In his only ODI innings in Indore, Shubman Gill scored 112 (78) vs NZ in 2023.

- Ishan Kishan has played a List A innings in Indore against MP in the Vijay Hazare Trophy - and scored 173(94) [19 fours, 11 sixes]

- Steve Smith averages 188 against Ravindra Jadeja at a strike-rate of 120.5

- Alex Carey averages 88 against Bumrah at a strike-rate of 93

- KL Rahul averages 93 against Starc at an average of 110.7, but averages only 23.5 against Zampa, with four dismissals

"If you've noticed the Indian attack over the last few years, you will notice that we always help each other out. If I take wickets, then Bumrah will be stopping runs at the other end. This kind of partnership bowling is very important. Someone will take more wickets than the other on a particular day but the supporting roles remain equally crucial." - B11$ on the Indian bowling attack hunting in pairs

"Maxi (Maxwell) has just arrived in India. Smudge has had his first hit as well, and Davey (Warner) was brilliant. We've got one eye on the big tournament, but you want to set the standards early and build a good rhythm." - Australia captain, B12$ is looking ahead at the bigger prize at stake after this series
