Nissanka and Avishka Fernando are at the crease. Nissanka is on strike. Fazalhaq Farooqi will open the attack
The players are out in the middle and we're set to start
Hashmatullah Shahidi - We wanted to bat first as well, similar conditions and we'll have to bowl well. It's not always about spin - one change for us. Qais Ahmed is in
Kusal Mendis - We will bat first, the wicket is good. 300+ should be a good score, I hope the batters continue to do well. We'll have to bowl wicket-to-wicket. Just one change for us. Chameera is OUT, Asitha is IN
'The pitch looks similar to the first game. The covering of grass is 4m, but there are some green patches, which means it'll not be as high scoring a game as the last match. Dew could play a role in the second innings as well, the first 7-8 overs could be crucial', reckons Russel Arnold, in his pitch report
Sri Lanka are batting first in pristine conditions in Palledkele. We've made one change to our pre-toss expert XI. Do have a look before you lock in your final fantasy XI.

Sri Lanka have won the toss and have opted to bat
1:30 pm local: Pathum Nissanka erased Sanatha Jayasuriya's 24-year old record for the highest individual score by a Sri Lankan batter and also became Sri Lanka's first-ever double centurion in ODIs in the 1st ODI. If the hosts expected Afghanistan to roll over, they were in for a surprise as Mohammad Nabi and Azmatullah Omarzai made hundreds and added 242 runs for the 6th wicket. That wasn't enough though as the tourists finished at 339 for 6, losing by 42 runs. It was a run-fest then in Pallekele and a good Sunday crowd will expect the same today as well. Toss and team news coming up shortly..
