Shreyas Iyer: I tried it another time, still it came down as heads. It's part and parcel but it such games it's crucial. Not going to take those excuses though.
Hardik Pandya: We are going to bowl. Just want to see how the pitch behaves. It has been under covers for two days

Toss time!
Pitch report: "This is pitch no.5, the last game played on it was on the 23rd March against SRH. 67m and 62m boundaries, 75m down the ground. The spinners might quite like it. It’s been under covers for so long so the spinners might get some purchase. If the pacers get it slightly wrong, it’ll disappear. It’s very cool here at Kolkata so it might swing around a bit" says Danny Morrison.
20:42 Local Time, 15:12 GMT, 20:42 IST: We've got some good news coming in. The match is set to start at 9:15pm and it will be a 16-over contest. The toss will be held at 9pm.
20:10 Local Time, 14:40 GMT:] Almost all the covers have come off and we can see players coming out onto the field now. The umps will inspect the conditions at 20:45, so we could be in for a slightly shorter game.
Sagar Kulkarni: The impact sub-rule is fun. All-rounders like Mr. Narine are still worth in diamonds. I think there's no correlation between ground size and high-scoring games. Keep something for bowlers on the pitch and suddenly 250+ scoring teams become 150 scoring ones!
Praveen GV: I feel impact sub rule not only limiting the role of allrounders but also not allowing the players to spend quality time on the field feilding ball. Players like Arsdeep, Dube, Jaiswal and SKY got selected for T20 WC but they hardly spending time on field at times. Catches win you matches, they say.
Ritesh Dhargave: I disagree with the all rounder critic. Nitish Reddy has been able to bat and bowl for SRH. It just highlights the quality of good all rounders, which is what India needs and not someone who can just roll their arms over.
Amit L: Honestly, Impact rule can stay provided the ground dimensions are bigger to give something to the bowlers. Due to this rule and flat pitches, bowlers are under pressure always and going for runs!

19:50 Local Time, 14:20 GMT, 19:50 IST: Covers are being taken off
Jagadish Naik: The impact substitution rule may benefit certain players while not necessarily benefiting others, particularly all-rounders. While it offers opportunities to more players, it can also demotivate all-rounders, who are often the true match-winners.
Rishabh: I find it absurd to be honest. Just because of impact sub rule players like Yashasvi Jaiswal & Abhishek Sharma never have to roll over their arm. We need top order batters who can bowl decent part time spin. That art was slowly disappearing post Raina-Yuvraj, but thanks to impact sub it's extinct now.
Joseph Xavier M: Actually there is so many people against Impact sub rule. But I actually like it as it gives more oppurtunity for more Indian players. But need bowler friendly wickets to neutralize the rule. But that will be a distant dream.
19:35 Local Time, 14:05 GMT, 19:35 IST: Rain has stopped
As we wait for the weather to clear, let's discuss some cricket. This IPL has seen some crazy scores and hitting with bat dominating ball quite easily. How do you see this as a fan? Also how do you see the impact sub rule? Do chirp away using the 'Have Your Say' button on our desktop site
Lasith Malinga | MI bowling coach: This year it was a great experience. I have been playing over the last 12-13 years, but this year most eams have been trying to score over 200 and therefore bowlers have to be more smarter than before and skill-full, but MI are not in that path this year, but I hope they understand that in the next couple of years. Looking forward to the future. When I look at the next 5 years, most important ball is yorker, it doesn't matter the line. Bowlers have to learn to be consistent, and this new generation guys always happy to do workload management, that's why they don't get that control on each delivery. Hope, might be they have to change their mindset to by thinking with more quantity (have to manage two batters during the match) then they can get that quality. He (Bumrah) is the most experienced bowler in our line-up and with the new ball he tries to swing and after the 7th over, he bowls yorkers and slower balls with wide lines. In the game, always need to take that positive mindset.
Mitchell Starc: We're going alright, been an interesting year. We've had a stretch at home and then games away, nice to be back home now. It's important to get that second chance, you get that big break before the final, certainly spoke about it at training the other day so that we finish in that top 2. You certainly need a bit of luck with the ball, especially with the impact player rule and the sizes of the grounds. Salt and Sunil (Narine) have been fantastic at the top of the order. There's been some fantastic batting but with the ball, it could be a little bit better. I haven't actually played a lot of T20 cricket in the last 8-9 years, so it's nice to get back into the rhythm of T20 cricket . Would have been nice to get a better start to the tournament but it has been good to contribute in the last couple of games. We've got a fantastic bowling unit too, slightly on the younger side but they've all contributed. It looks like the rain has stopped, looks like the forecast has gotten better too. It's been a gloomy day but hopefully the covers come off and we can get a game.
