Seattle Orcas have won the toss and have opted to field
18:30 Local Time, 23:30 GMT, 05:00 IST: Hello everyone! Seattle are playing after a while. They would have had time to reflect where they erred in the season-opener against the defending champions. On a tricky pitch, their batters faltered and although their bowlers fought hard, MI New York's Pooran extinguished all their hopes. On the other hand, Los Angeles kickstarted their campaign with a 12-run win over TSK but suffered a heavy defeat in their following encounter against San Francisco. While their bowlers defended 162 vs Texas, their score of 165 was hunted down by SFU in 15.2 overs, thanks to brisk fifties from Finn Allen and Matthew Short. Unlike Morrisville, there's no rain threat here in Dallas. Let's hope we are treated to a thriller. Stay tuned, toss and team news coming up in half an hour.
Preview
After opening their campaign with a tight win, Los Angeles Knight Riders were handed a hammering in their second game of the season. A total of 160-plus appeared to be a par score in Dallas but Finn Allen and Matthew Short blew away LAKR. But the format of the tournament is such that teams are expected to move on pretty quickly with games coming thick and fast.
Knight Riders will now have to brace themselves to play their third game in five days as they take on a side that lost its only game of the tournament, which was played on the opening day. Seattle Orcas put up a disappointing show with the bat against Mumbai Indians and their primary goal will be to make improvements in that department.
A batting lineup that boasts the likes of Quinton de Kock, Heinrich Klaasen and USA's World Cup hero Aaron Jones were bowled out for just 108. It will be interesting to see if they draft Ryan Rickleton early into their XI to bolster the batting lineup. The only solace is that they will be up against a bowling attack that just got rattled in their last game.
When: July 9, Tuesday, 7.30 PM local time, 6;00 AM IST (July 10)
Where: Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas
What to expect: Based on the two games played here so far, 160 seems to be a par score at this venue with pacers in particular finding some success.
