The West Indies players and management pose together for some photographs. We are about to get rolling.
10:11 Local Time, 14:11 GMT, 19:41 IST: Good news, folks! Play will start at 10:30am local. Lunch will be taken at 12:30pm
The sun has broken through and the cover has been taken off from the pitch.
Kyle Verrynne: I think the intent that me and Mulder showed, it was good. It was quite a slow scoring wicket for the most of the day, it wasn’t a case of wanting to survive, it got to a point where we needed to get runs, it was about getting positive. I quite enjoy problem-solving, so I look at different ways of going about it. When you are playing away from home, it’s different conditions and. We know each other quite well and it was a bit of banter at the end of the day. We chatted at the end of day’s play.
09:46 Local Time, 13:46 GMT, 19:16 IST: Unfortunately, it rained earlier in the morning and so the start of play has been delayed.
Day 3: Things have moved at a good pace in this Test match. SA lead by 239 runs at present and the ball is in their court. Holder’s unbeaten fifty and Shamar Joseph’s late flourish with the bat yesterday narrowed down the hosts’ deficit to only 16 runs. However, the opening pair of SA, Markram and de Zorzi, added 79 runs together to set the tone. The visitors then suffered a collapse, losing 5 wickets for only 19 runs. But, Verreynne and Mulder resurrected their side with a sprightly 84-run stand. Both of them are going strong and will be eager to put WI further on the back foot. The home side’s fielding and catching was also sloppy in phases and they need to improve on that. The good thing for the hosts is that the second new ball will be available in 10 overs. Will the momentum swing once again or will the Proteas run away with the show? Stay with us as we will bring live action to you shortly....
Jason Holder: Was just trying to get as many runs and build a partnership. When Shamar came, he was very, very positive and kept the momentum going. Each innings is different, I just try to play it as it comes. All in all, pretty happy with the way I played. We just got good discipline, our seamers did well later on in this track. We got to keep that momentum and discipline. I think tomorrow morning, the first session is crucial. The important thing is not to let too many runs away, and we have enough time in this game and we have the belief that we can chase anything they give us.
17:37 Local Time, 21:37 GMT, 03:07 IST: This 6th wicket partnership has helped SA immensely. They started off on a great note. Then lost the plot as they lost a lot of wickets in a phase. But then Wiaan Mulder and Verreynne got together to stop the rut. They have added 84 runs already and the Windies looked a little tired towards the end of the day and Mulder was very severe as he hit two sixes in the last two overs. Earlier Markram got a fifty, de Zorzi missed a fifty and Stubbs got out after being set. SA looked a little on the back foot but as I said, Mulder and Verreynne arrested the slide first and then kept adding runs. The wicket has eased out for sure and the oldish ball is easier to play as well. 10 more overs and the second new ball would be available. The first session on day 3 will be very crucial. We will be there tomorrow! Bye bye for now.
