12:40 Local Time, 10:40 GMT, 16:10 IST: More from Telford: The rain seems to have stopped, and the skies are a touch less grey. Better yet, an umpire has appeared and is making a beady-eyed lap of the covers. Sadly, he is doing so under an unfurled umbrella. So there must still be a slight drizzle.. We're done with the lunch and the wait continues into the second session as well
12:00 Local Time, 10:00 GMT, 15:30 IST: We continue to wait for the rain to stop, but they've taken lunch and we'll be back at 12:40 for hopefully some better news
11:35 Local Time, 09:35 GMT, 15:05 IST: The super sopper is super soppering away, says Telford. The scheduled lunch break is at 12 noon. Will they prepone and look for an early start after the break?
11:25 Local Time, 09:25 GMT, 14:55 IST: 'Umbrellas are being furled as we speak, and the rain has just about stopped. But let’s curb our enthusiasm: there’s quite a lot of water on the covers,' the latest from Telford
11:15 Local Time, 09:15 GMT, 14:45 IST: The forecast looks bad, but hopefully we'll have enough window between rain to squeeze in a few overs of cricket today
10:50 Local Time, 08:50 GMT, 14:20 IST: The rain has got very heavy and the wait continues. Don't think we'll get any play in the first session
10:23 Local Time, 08:23 GMT, 13:53 IST: Our Mr. Observant - Telford - says, "Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Who'll stop the rain?" has just warbled out of the ground's sound system. Doubtless we will have other wet stuff adjacent music before we see a ball bowled. Having said that, it has brightened. Still drizzling, however."
10:01 Local Time, 08:01 GMT, 13:31 IST: We should have rolled on with things on day 3 by now.
12:58 Local Time, 10:58 GMT, 16:28 IST: More umpires. More unfurled umbrellas. And the super sopper has come to a shuddering halt just off the covers. The fuel hose has come undone, apparently. Should be fixable. This is the latest that Telford has pinged.
Telford further adds that it is spitting at the moment and the covers are firmly on. With less than 15 minutes to go, one can expect the start of play to be delayed.
Now Telford informs that it has started to rain and the start of play might be delayed. We will soon have a confirmation on that. Just the start we didn't need.
Our very punctual Telford has pointed out that there was a lot of rain overnight but it isn't too wet right now. Pakistan batters would still want to get some runs and hope they have enough to fight with.
09:20 Local Time, 07:20 GMT, 12:50 IST: Hello and welcome to day 3 of the first Test between South Africe and Pakistan. South Africa needed a win coming into this game to get a ticket for the grand finale of the WTC. But hasn't been that easy. It needed a freak knock from debutant Corbin Bosch to hand them some advantage. They managed to get a healthy lead of 90 courtesy the valour showed by Bosch. Pakistan started off on an aggressive note before losing their way a bit. They are still 2 adrift and have 7 wickets in hand. Day 3 is a moving day and we might have some tectonic shifts as this game has been fast paced. Put on your seat belts and enjoy the show. Ball 1 shouldn't be far away..
It's stumps on Day 2 and that'll be it for all the cricket today. It's turning out to be a thriller and we could even get a result as soon as tomorrow. Do join us for all the action. For now, cheers and bye..
Corbin Bosch waves at the crowd as he goes to the dressing room. The two on-field umpires are still out in the middle, but there're a lot of dark clouds hovering around.
17:00 Local Time, 15:00 GMT, 20:30 IST: It's gone dark and umpire Nitin Menon has a reading with the lightmeter. We're exactly at the scheduled close of play today
