Khawaja and Head are at the crease. Khawaja is on strike. Asitha Fernando will open the attack
Out come the players and umpires then. It's gotten bright and sunny. How will Head fare at the top of the order? Let's find out
Dhananjaya de Silva: I wanted to bat first as well. Three spinners and one fast bowler, Angelo Mathews will bowl.
Steve Smith: We'll have a bat. Unsure at this stage, looks a little tacky this morning, not too sure how it'll play, we'll wait and see. Josh Inglis gets his opportunity, he's been banging the door down in Shield cricket. We've got three spinners, Starc as the pacer and Head will open. We have to adapt accordingly and see what's in front of us. Sri Lanka are a very good team.
Pitch report: "There has been rain over the few days and the biggest challenge for the curator to keep it dry. Very little grass, there's some moisture underneath. They had to get the fans and UV light out to try and dry it. Around 270-300 will be a good 1st innings score. In Galle, it's always going to be spin to win" says Farveez Maharoof.

Looks like a lot of you favour the Aussies. Fair play too, they've been excellent in this WTC cycle and they'll love it if they can carry some winning momentum into the WTC final. The latest from the ground is that Josh Inglis has recieved his Baggy Green and is set to make his Test debut. It's a rather grey morning at Galle and there's a lot of humidity. There might just be something in it for the quicks early on.
Sanyam Gupta: Sri Lanka to win 2-0
Prijith David: With Pathum Nissanka ruled out, it's a major blow for Sri Lanka. Hope Australia use this to clean the Sr Lankan batting order and make 2-0 after 14 years
Dheer: Australia 2-0
Sachin Bansal: SL will definitely have an edge if the wickets are spin friendly. So my prediction is 2-0 in favor of Sri Lanka.
Akhil: Australia to win the series 2-0
Rian: 1-1. Head leading run getter, P Jayasuriya most wickets
KRISHNAN DHANDAPANI: Australia win the series 1-0

Notable news heading into the game is that both teams will likely feature new opening partnerships. Sri Lanka will be without their star Pathum Nissanka who was ruled out injured and Oshada Fernando is expected to take his place. Meanwhile, there are murmurs that Australia will push Travis Head up to open the batting while leaving Konstas out. For confirmation though, we'll have to wait until the toss which isn't very far away now.
