Spencer Johnson to Nissanka, out Caught by Carey!! There's an outside edge, but the umpire just wants to make sure that it carried through to Carey's gloves. First impression was that it was a clean catch, but we'll get the confirmation on slow-mo replays. Was a lovely delivery, pitched around off and nipped away from the right-hander, drew Nissanka into the drive and found the outside edge. Carey dives to his right and completes the catch - UltraEdge confirms that there's indeed an edge and it's a good ccatch, clean to his right - Nissanka is OUT. The players are out for the national anthems - Australia's first and then followed by that of Sri Lanka..
Steven Smith - We would have batted first as well, looks dry and could break up as the game goes on. Lots of changes to digest, Head, Inglish and Maxwell aren't playing, it's hard to say (on the changes), you'll see it on the TV. We'll try to win both games, a good place to play and the boys are very excited. Trying to get the tempo of the 50-over game back, having played lots of Tests and T20s.
Charith Asalanka - We'll bat first. It looks dry, I just want to put a good score on the board. We're going 6-5 with two all-rounders. 270-280 could be a good score on this pitch.
This looks very bare, hardly any green grass, the brown grass has been rolled in nicely. Nice time to bat is against the new ball when it'll skid. The pitch will slow down as the day progresses and the spinners will come into play. Bat first, any score around 230+, you can get the job done, reckons Farveez Maharoof, in his pitch report
