The trend continued in the opening T20I after Buttler's 96 helped set them a target of 189 on a two-paced pitch where the cutters into the wicket nicely. Chasing a big target, West Indies never looked like getting there as Liam Dawson playing his first T20I for England since September 2022, opened the bowling and took a four-fer to help his side gain a 1-0 lead in the series. A winning start in the T20Is under Harry Brook who has settled nicely into his job. West Indies under new captain Shai Hope need to turn things around quickly or else this series will be gone too.
