10:25 Local Time, 09:25 GMT, 14:55 IST:"Hello from a cool and pleasant Birmingham," greets our correspondent, Kaushik Rangarajan, from the ground. Lots of traffic heading towards Edgbaston. It's a Saturday triple bonanza for the Brummies. There's the Sabbath concert , the Colmore food festival and a Test match at Edgbaston. Must say it has gotten a little overcast in the last 5 minutes," he adds.
It was an extraordinary day's cricket yesterday with incredibly special efforts, first from Jamie Smith and Harry Brook to register counterattacking hundreds of the highest quality. And then from the likes of Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep to wrestle back the initiative with the second new ball. In the absence of Bumrah, Siraj stepped up with a performance to remember, registering his second-best figures in Test cricket with 6/70. Here's more about the lion-hearted bowler in the piece from Kaushik Rangarajan above.
10:20 Local Time, 09:20 GMT, 14:50 IST: India were ahead in Leeds for large parts of the game, didn't capitalise on positions of strength and allowed England a come-from-behind victory. As we go into Day 4 at Edgbaston, the visitors are absolutely bossing this Test and here's another chance to bat England out of the game with a show of ruthlessness. If all goes well, there will be a time when the discussion will shift to when the declaration should happen and what kind of target to set and how many overs to leave themselves. But this morning session is about whether they can snuff out any remaining hope of a strong comeback from the hosts. Hello and welcome to our live coverage.
Session wise stats this Test Morning: 379/5 (Avg 75.80) Afternoon: 335/2 (Avg 167.50) Evening: 344/14 (avg 24.57)
Siraj finished with six, Akash Deep took four, and they've taken India to a superb position to finish the job. The pitch looks very much a new ball pitch at the moment. There still isn't much turn on offer and the variability in bounce isn't causing too many headaches yet. England, though, need to pull up their socks. They were awful in that little spell before stumps.
