Shamar Joseph to Carey, 1 run, good length delivery outside off,
The players are out in the middle and we ready for live action. The Windies players are in a huddle as the Australian batters enter the arena.
09:41 Local Time, 13:41 GMT, 19:11 IST: Play to start in 20 minutes that is at 10:00 am local time..
Pitch report: If you look at this surface you can see the wear and tear that has occured over the course of the last 3 days in this Test. A lot of brown patches on the surface at the River end. This will create more challenges for the batters, maybe it will create more opportunities for the bowlers. The Windies bowlers took a long time to get their bowling plans right, almost two sessions to get it right. They started with 10% of their deliveries finishing at the stumps and finished it with 21%, that's the right approach. There's a constant lowering of bounce on this surface, batters are struggling to judge the heigt of deliveries. We saw Travis Head struggling, we saw Steve Smith struggle and most batters will continue to struggle on Day 4. What should the batters do? The should find a way to score on this surface, reckons Daren Ganga.
Cameron Green - Not the sort of scores I wanted in the first couple of games, but was good to make a contribution yesterday. Their bowlers are skillful, you'll get into trouble if you keep defendding, the wicket will not get easier, you've to find ways to score runs./ The role at 3 is important, the whole team depends on the top-order doing well, you'll have to make it easier for the middl-order, even if you don't get too many runs, you'll have to spend some time. Heard good things about thse venues, was told that the conditions would be good for batting, but that hasn't happened, but nice to be over here
09:25 Local Time, 13:25 GMT, 18:55 IST: The rain has reduced to a steady drizzle. Shouldn't be a long delay. We might get play underway soon..
09:18 Local Time, 13:18 GMT, 18:48 IST:
09:00 am local: Australia got bowled out on Day 1 of the Test, West Indies got bowled out on Day 2, with the Australian openers getting dismissed towards the end ot the day. But the third day of this Test was a little less eventful as compared to the first two days as only 5 wickets fell in it. There were quite a few rain interruptions, hence plenty of overs were lost throughout the course of the day. Despite all those rain breaks, Australia did score some pivotal runs and the visitors now lead by 254 runs with 3 wickets remaining. Hello and welcome to our live coverage of Day 4 folks! The Aussies are in an authoritative position in this Test in Grenada. A few more runs added to the lead and they’ll be able to set a pretty challenging target for Windies. The pitch has gotten difficult for batting as the game has progressed, so chasing is going to be a pretty difficult task on this surface. How many more runs will Alex Carey be able to add to Australia’s lead in the company of their lower-order batters? Only time will tell. Stay around as the start of play isn’t far away..
Steven Smith: It was a tricky surface, bit up and down and there was a bit of seam movement. I tried to be still and tried to negate lbw. I thought I did that pretty well, tried to put the bad balls away. Was a nice partnership with Green, that set us up. I got hit on the finger first ball, that wasn't ideal. Was that kind of a wicket, had to take a few on the hands, but it's all good. We are in a nice spot, don't think wicket will get good for batting. The new ball is going to be crucial, hopefully we get a lead of somewhere near 300.
17:49 Local Time, 21:49 GMT, 03:19 IST: The light has suddenly deteriorated, umpire Richard Kettleborough takes a reading and they're off. Play stopped due to bad light, but I doubt they'll come back. It's indeed stumps on Day 3
