Almost time for the toss. Some playful banter between skippers Gill and Pandya. The MI skipper gives his Indian teammate a warm embrace as he jokes around about something.
Pitch Report | Nick Knight and Micheal Clarke: A bit unsure of this pitch, definitely not like the one that was used for the GT vs PBKS game. It is a different clay to the other surface, and this pitch could play a bit two-paced. The pitch looks a bit patchy, where 180 could be par. There will be enough for the bowlers, for change of pace. New ball might kiss off the surface. Don’t think it will be as good batting conditions as the earlier game at this venue. Both teams look consistent, they’d both like to chase just in case there is some dew, but don’t think this surface suits one team over the other. You got to play your best cricket to win.
Gujarat suffered a loss at home in their opening game, as PBKS steamrolled their bowlers by scoring 243 runs on a pretty placid deck. The home side gave it a spirited chase, but fell short by 11 runs. Mumbai on the other hand have conceded their customary king’s pawn away after losing on opening day to Chennai Super Kings. However, they generally come back strong in the IPL, and would look to bounce back from defeat with an impactful performance today in Ahmedabad. They have the batting to trouble any opposition, let’s see how they go about things today. Stick around for the toss and team news.
