In November 2017, Marco set the stage on fire and made the world notice him after he broke the world record for scoring the quickest triple ton in first class cricket. He amassed 300 off 191 balls for his team Border against Eastern Province in South Africa's second tier first-class form.
The burly right-hander broke a long standing record of Charley McCartney who scored his triple off 221 balls against Nottinghamshire for the touring Australians way back in 1921.
In the Africa T20 Cup, Marco mustered back-to-back tons to help his team sail into the finals where his team lost to Gauteng. But his T20 exploits were spotted by Nelson Mandela Bay Giants who roped his services for the Mzansi T20 League. For someone who relies on a power game, his consistency in a fickle format has forced people to notice him.
