Biography
Hammad Azam is a young and upcoming all-rounder who made his debut for Pakistan in the series against the West Indies in April 2011.
Azam made his first-class debut in 2008 playing for Rawalpindi. After impressive showings in his first six matches, he was selected in the Pakistan U-19 squad in the U-19 World Cup played in New Zealand in January 2010. He had an impressive series, scoring 173 runs in six games. His best knock was an unbeaten 92 against the West Indies in the semi-final to help Pakistan reach the final.
He was selected in the Pakistan squad for the T20I against Australia at Melbourne in February 2010. After Pakistan's exit in the semi-final of the 2011 World Cup, Pakistan looked for some fresh faces and Hammad Azam got a chance to feature in Pakistan's tour of West Indies and Ireland. His older brother Haseeb Azam also plays cricket for Rawalpindi.
Azam made his ODI debut against West Indies in 2011, but has not got a lot of chances. He has played only 8 ODIs and 5 T20Is since then and last played in July 2013. Even in first class cricket he has failed to perform on a consistent basis.
