Biography

A solid middle order batsman with more than 5 first-class centuries which also includes a double ton, Nikhil Gangta made his first-class debut against Goa in December 2012. He batted at number four in his debut innings and played as an opener in the second innings of the same match; and on both occasions he couldn't get into double digits. Hence, his debut turned out to be a rather disappointing one.

However, following his debut, Nikhil Gangta worked on his temperament and at present is considered as one of the pivotal members of the team for his contribution over the last few years. One of his most significant performances came during the final of Duleep Trophy 2018 where he played a match defining knock of 130 against India Red. It was due to his partnerships with the lower order that India Blue managed to post a daunting score of 541 in the first innings. India Blue won the Duleep Trophy final by an innings and 187 runs and Nikhil was adjudged the Man of the Match for his impressive century. Also against Delhi in November 2018, Nikhil played a match saving and gritty knock as a result of which Himachal Pradesh were able to salvage a draw.
