Biography

Matthew Cross, a wicket-keeper batsman, was the vice-captain of Scotland Under-19s in the 2012 Under-19 World Cup. He is presently studying engineering at Loughborough University. His performances with Loughbourgh MCCU and Scotland U19s were considered praiseworthy. He also represented the Nottinghamshire second XI and made his debut for the Scottish Saltries in the 2013 YB40 match against Hampshire.

Cross played his first T20I match for Scotland in 2013, against Kenya. He was subsequently selected in the T20 squad to participate in the 2013 World Cup Qualifiers in the UAE. His ODI debut came a year later in 2014, when he was a part of Scotland's squad for the World Cup Qualifiers. He hit two fifties and as an opening batsman, provided the team with good starts in the tournament. However, his form suffered over the summer and he was dropped down the order in the World Cup acclimatisation tour. With age on his side, Cross has a bright future ahead of him.
