Biography

Scott Kuggeleijn is a genuine pace-bowling all-rounder who can clock in the lower 140s consistently, whilst also being able to use the long handle effectively. Scott's father, Chris Kuggeleijn, played two Tests for New Zealand in 1988-89. Scott Kuggeleijn made his first-class debut
for Wellington Firebirds in 2011-12 in the Ford Trophy and has since moved to the Northern Districts. His highest first-class score of 142* came against Central Stags in a winning cause at Karori Park. His breakthrough performance with the ball came in the 2016-17 Ford Trophy, where he topped the wicket charts, picking up seventeen wickets in nine matches.

Off the field, the all-rounder was in the news for the wrong reasons, after he was accused of rape in 2016, and went on trial for a second time in 2017 only to be met with a hung jury. His national selection came about soon after his second trial, and the New Zealand Cricket Chief Executive went on record to say that he \"respected the court process and wasn't in the business of relitigating past events.\" The case against the cricketer remains open.

After a few successful performances with the Northern Districts, he was picked for New Zealand's tour of Ireland in 2017, where he was picked in a second string Kiwi side to test their bench-strength. He went on to make his T20I debut against Sri Lanka in early 2019, and was subsequently also picked for the home series against India where he performed admirably with the ball.
