Biography
Arguably the fastest bowler in Papua New Guinea cricket, Nosaina Pokana’s brief career has been dogged with obstacles aplenty. The biggest of those came in 2018 when the ICC suspended him from bowling due to an illegal bowling action. After undergoing the necessary correction and action remodeling, Pokana resumed bowling and was a pivotal part of PNG’s campaign in the 2019 WCL Division Two tournament where they reclaimed ODI status. Pokana was the leading wicket-taker for his team and provided a potent new ball option for his side. A genuine pace bowler, the left-arm angle also gives Pokana a big advantage in terms of angle and natural variations. Apart from being good with the new ball, he is also reliable at the death and is now an integral part of PNG’s white-ball fortunes.
