Biography
One of the shining lights of Papua New Guinea, Tony Ura has been an impact player for the side since his entry to the team. An aggressive wicket-keeper batsman who also opens the batting, he has the penchant to take bowlers apart with ruthless strokeplay. Both his father and brother were talented at the game, also having represented PNG in the age group system at one point. Tony went higher than his kin, shooting to fame in 2008 when he helped his country to qualify for the U19 World Cup with dazzling performances. That limelight enabled him to gain a club cricket contract in Australia and he started to groom himself further in the sport. Since then, Tony has been a consistent performer for PNG and in 2019, life came a full circle for him with the country gaining ODI status in April.
