Born in Chennai, Anirudh's family moved to Hyderebad where he pursued his cricket career under the guidence of VVS Laxman's childhood coach - Bharath Reddy. Anirudh is a left-hand batsman and bowls handy off-breaks. In 2013/14, the southpaw stamped his autority in the U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy amassing over 900 runs in seven games and also won the BCCI U-19 cricketer award.
He scaled heights and went onto represent Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy 2014/15 season. Anirudh made a mark in his debut season scoring 549 runs in eight matches and played a pivotal role in Hyderbad reaching the quarters. In the inaugural edition of TNPL, Anirudh played some eye-catching innings and made a move to switch his base to Chennai. He became eligible for selection of Tamil Nadu in 2017 and spurred by his shows in the Buchi Babu tournament, the TN selectors included him in the state team
