Greg Hay is an experienced campaigner at Central Districts. Having started his career in 2006, Hay has played over a decade for the Stags. A consistent performer, Hay gave up on the T20s in 2014 and plays the longer formats.
Hay is an opening batsman but began his career playing in the middle order. In fact, in his debut game against Wellington Hay scored 98 batting at number six. But as the years passed on, Hay turned himself into a solid opening batsman for the Stags.
His numbers in the shorter forms is decent with an average over 40 in List A and a strike rate of above 120 in T20 cricket, but the demands of the game made him chose the longer formats and ever since that decision, Hay has been a prolific run-scorer for Central Districts.
With three good seasons in domestic circuit, Hay finally got a call-up to the New Zealand XI squad to face a touring England side in a two-day practice encounter in 2018 - he made 24. Into the middle 30s, Hay has very little chance of breaking into the New Zealand Test side.
