  • Venue Description: Established in 2008, the SVNS International Cricket Stadium is one of the newest state-of-the-art stadiums in India. The ground hosted its first major game in 2010, when the Canadian national team played against Chhattisgarh in a one-day match. In 2013, the stadium made its debut in the IPL when it was chosen as the second home venue for the Delhi Daredevils. The Daredevils won both their games here, against Pune Warriors India and Kolkata Knight Riders. Few of the 2014 IPL season matches were supposed to be played here, but due to the Lok Sabha elections and the rescheduling that followed afterwards, the venue couldn't host any games. However, the venue played host to eight Champions League T20 matches of the 2014 edition. All the six qualifiers plus two group stage games, were held here. How does the pitch play? The 22-yards strip usually offers a good balance between the bat and the ball. Two IPL and eight CLT20 games have been played at this venue and only once a team has crossed 200 here. Apart from that, from time to time, the pitch offers some assistance to the pacers as well as the spinners. In all, it is a good sporting wicket, with something there for everyone to exploit. by Sidhant Maheshwari
