England U19

(25.1 ov) 98/3 (25.1 ov) 98/3

England U19 won by 7 wkts

A rather one-sided contest in the end. Not what many expected with this clash but that's how uncertain the sport is. Bangladesh will be stung by the magnitude of this defeat. They need to bounce back and bounce back quick as there is hardly any time left. England meanwhile will be boosted massively by such a big win, the net run rate getting a boost as well. There will be more coverage of the U19 World Cup tomorrow. Do join us for that. Until then, it's goodbye from us. Cheers!
Tom Prest | England captain: I think it's the perfect start really. For our bowlers to get them under 100, couldn't have asked for anything better. We thought it might spin a bit more than it did, thought it might break a bit more too. Good toss to lose in the end. Good performance overall. He (Boyden) has been performing really well for us in the last few series. We fielded very well, were fizzing around and throwing it to the keeper hard. Fielding has been a focus of ours, so it's pleasing. They started off well with the ball, so to weather that storm and then dominate, pretty good batting performance.
Rakibul Hasan | Bangladesh captain: I think we need to look at our batting and need to improve it. Hopefully we can bounce back in the next game. We had some players at the end who batted well. If our main batters can show the same application, we can do much better. We bowled well, because the track eased out in the second half. So I'm happy with our bowling and fielding. We need to have a look at our batting and improve it. Two games remain, we need to win both to qualify, we need to play our best cricket.

Josh Boyden | Player of the Match: It was a great performance from the boys. Always good to take a few wickets. We spoke before the start of the game and thought that bowling full is the right option. We need to take what we did well from this game and carry it forward to the next games. My ultimate goal is to play Test cricket.

13:57 Local Time, 17:57 GMT, 23:27 IST: A stroll in the park for England eventually. The first 10-15 overs wasn't easy in terms of run-scoring but they didn't panic like their opponents and upped the ante steadily. Of course, it helped that they knew what they were chasing. Bethell and Rew stitched a fluid stand, the former in particular impressed big time with the quality of his strokeplay. After the initial new-ball spells, Bangladesh's bowlers were taken apart and you can't really fault them, given how paltry the total to defend was. It's the batting that let the defending champions down. Nobody showed the stomach for a fight except for Ripon to some extent. England's bowlers were immaculate and except for a while when Bangladesh's last wicket were batting, were spot on. The game was virtually over at the halfway mark itself and England's batters ensured that there wouldn't be any drama.

Ariful Islam to James Rew, 1 run, England wrap up a clinical seven-wicket win! Rew finishes the formalities with a neat tuck towards square leg. And that'll be the end of that

Naimur Rohman to Luxton, SIX, no sighters needed for Luxton! Gets one in the arc and goes booooooooom over deep mid-wicket with a meaty slog sweep. Loads of power and he's cleared the ropes by some distance. Scores level with the blow

Naimur Rohman to James Rew, out Bethell Run Out!! Needless run out! Waste of a wicket really. England's running between the wickets has been shoddy so far and Bethell is the casualty of it. Rew nudged this towards square leg and called his partner across for what was always a risky run. Ariful swoops in on the ball and unleashes a direct hit at the striker's end. Bethell was always struggling, and is well short. End of a promising knock and the youngster will be gutted not to be there at the finish. Bethell run out (Ariful Islam) 44(63) [4s-4 6s-2]
