Under 19 World Cup 2022, Super League Semi-Final 2, Antigua, Feb 2nd, 2022

India U19

(49.6 ov) 290/5 (49.6 ov) 290/5

Australia U19

(41.5 ov) 194/10 (41.5 ov) 194/10

India U19 won by 96 runs

It's the fourth consecutive under-19 World Cup final that India would now be playing, and it's a thumping testament to the kind of talent, the passion, and the junior cricket structure the BCCI have laid out. They've been at least a couple of shades better than the rest. So this was me, Vineet Anantharaman, scribbling it out in the company of Hari Sadanandan and our scorer, Mukesh Gowda. Until Saturday, where a just-as-inspired England await after their stunning win last night, ta ta!!

Cooper Connolly | Losing captain: Going into the last ten, we thought we were in a good position, but they scored 100 and thus 290 was a bridge too far. The experience was good but the only problem was the bubble. The way we played spin was good and we just got better with every session.

Yash Dhull | Winning captain | Player of the Match: The plan from me and Rasheed was to bat till the end, and it worked. It's a proud moment (to be the third Indian captain to score a U19 WC ton after Virat Kohli and Unmukt Chand). The idea was to bat steadily, not to try too many shots, and to bat past the 40th over. Myself and Rasheed bat well together, we combine well and it showed. Rasheed and me had a good partnership and we had good partnerships lower down as well. The way in which the boys are playing is good. Rasheed is mentally very strong. We were in the bubble together and he is always mentally prepared.

16:08 Local Time, 20:08 GMT, 01:38 IST: They've been absolutely clinical, have India, and the Aussies were never in the chase. Kellaway and Miller saw through the new ball phase after Wyllie fell early, but once the spinners were unleashed, the rest of them just crumbled. And India had four of them. Ostwal and Sindhu bowled superbly in tandem, drying out the runs, drawing the false strokes, and breaking the back of the middle-order. Still, it's the batting where India have won this. 290 on most days is too many on these Caribbean pitches, but in a World Cup semi-final, it's a mountain, a mountain too steep. Here come the presentations ..

Raj Bawa to Jack Nisbet, out Tom Whitney Run Out!! And India have booked themselves a place in the finals. It's come off a run-out, with Nisbet miscuing a pull to mid-off, where Hangargekar nails a direct hit at the non-striker's end with Whitney already halfway down the pitch and trying to return. Tom Whitney run out (RS Hangargekar) 19(17) [6s-2]
