Pitch Report | Grant Elliott: There's variable bounce and variable spin. It's a wearing wicket. Expect the batters to be aggressive, but they'll be selective.
Glenn Phillips: I am going to say bowling. Being able to bowl in spin-friendly conditions has been satisfying. Batting was fun as well yesterday. We found out on day one that ball turning in is tough to face. Having two left-armers to bowl to the left-handers is a good option. I tried to stay on top of the bowlers. We wanted to get as close as possible to their total. The pitch is having assistance, it's about taking opportunities and putting the pressure back on them.

Stumps | day three: Less than 32 overs bowled today. No play in the first session due to a wet outfield. There was plenty of action in the second session. NZ lost two wickets to Nayeem and then Glenn Phillips took calculated risks. From 97/7, the visitors did well to cross Bangladesh's score of 172. Phillips, who notched up a 38-ball fifty, went onto hit 9 fours and 4 sixes on a pitch where every batter has struggled. With the Bangladeshi spinners under a bit of pressure for the first time, Shanto turned to pace and Shoriful provided two important breakthroughs. He broke the fifty stand between Phillips & Jamieson and then nipped out the dangerman. NZ could only take a slender lead of eight runs. Bangladesh, in their second essay, lost Joy in the very first over. His batting partner, Zakir Hasan, batted positively. Captain Shanto, however, fell tamely perishing to his counterpart. Bad light forced early stumps as only eight overs were bowled in the final session. We have lost almost five sessions in this Test but since it has progressed at a rate of knots, we'll most likely have a winner. Two more days remain, not much to separate these two teams at the moment. Tune in early tomorrow to find out how the action unfolds. Until then, goodbye..
