The match was set-up on the first day when they smashed 498 for 3 and there was no looking back from there on. Zimbabwe did improve as the Test went by, but they were up against the odds and succumbed pretty meekly. They did shine in patches - Brain Bennett's career-best 139 was the highlight of their first innings while Sean Wiliams' dogged 88 held them firm in the second. But these were the only significant contributions and it doesn't ensure a lot of pedigree in Tests. 9 for 143 for Shoaib Bashir who came into the match slightly undercooked, Zak Crawley and Ollie Pope made the selection call for the 1st Indian Test tougher with hundreds and England completed a comprehensive victory by an innings and 45 runs.
