The Sun is basking in all its glory in Kingston - these are perfect conditions for playing cricket.
Pitch Report: The West Indies bowlers bowled in good lines yesterday. Only 12 percent of deliveries were hitting the stumps though. The conditions here are quite grassy and hence, the bowlers bowled fuller to get that lateral movement. The surface will probably get firmer and it will carry better as the game progresses, reckon Samuel Badree and Courtney Walsh.
Day 2: Only 30 overs of play was possible yesterday as a wet outfield delayed proceedings. There’s rain forecasted for today afternoon but let’s hope it doesn’t play spoilsport. There was lateral movement available for the seamers yesterday and the hosts used it to good effect. The surface is variable in nature though with the majority of the deliveries keeping low. Occasionally, the ball has taken off as well. The home side’s fielding was sloppy though, especially the catching and that’s one area they need to buckle up in. Shadman has looked good apart from the two chances he had offered to the hosts. Shahadat has looked jittery but the important thing for Bangladesh is that he has stitched a gritty partnership with his partner and he is still out there. There will be some early movement on offer and the Windies seamers would be eager to capitalize on it. Another attritional day of Test cricket coming up...
Kemar Roach: (On the delayed start to the game) Just stayed relaxed, had a good chat with the boys and had a good time. We had discussions yesterday where we want to bowl at him. The movement on offer brought me in play. The pitch is a pretty good batting pitch, so it’s all about staying consistent. If you are going to bowl in a good channel for long periods, you are going to get rewarded. Little bit of even day for us but happy to have taken two wickets so far.
