Cummins to Akash Deep, no run, on a good length and just outside off, Akash Deep plays with soft hands and the edge rolls towards gully
Rohit spent a long time in the morning chatting with the bowling group. India know they've taken a big step towards saving the game by averting the follow-on., but they'll also realise that they can't relax just now, one bad session of cricket and the pressure will be right back on them.
09:40 Local Time, 23:40 GMT, 05:10 IST: As things stand, Australia have 98.1 overs to try and force a result. This not considering the expected rain breaks as happened during the course of the Test. They currently lead by 193 runs, will have to bowl India out, bat for a while, set a target and then come black to take 10 wickets a second time around, all with a bowler short. Draw the heavy favourite at the moment? We should have a prompt start to the day's play, but heavy rain is forecast later in the afternoon.
09:30 Local Time, 23:30 GMT, 05:00 IST: As we enter the final day of the Gabba Test, two results are realistically possible, an Australian win or a draw. KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, the Akash Deep-Bumrah 10th wicket pair ensured that India avoided the follow-on much to the obvious delight of the camp. Rahul 's 84 was the standout innings while Jadeja's 77 stood out for pure quality. With Australia down by a bowler, the workload was largely shared by Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins and the last 30 minutes showed signs of them creaking under tiredness. They'll come out fresh today, but they do need to get this last wicket early, score runs at a fairly good clip and then give themselves enough overs to try and bowl India out a second time. Add to this, they'll need to keep one eye on the weather which isn't expected to be their ally today. India have a simpler job, bat and bowl well and go to the Boxing Day Test with the series level at 1-1.

First innings batting averages in 2024/25 season 38.50 KL Rahul 37.16 Ravindra Jadeja 31.83 Shubman Gill 26.62 Rishabh Pant 25.62 Yashasvi Jaiswal 9.12 Virat Kohli 8.85 Rohit Sharma
Thinking from Australia's perspective, that eats into valuable time that they would've liked to try and bowl India out for a second time. And for India, while playing for the draw is definitely the plan, dare I say there's a very small, very remote, very minute chance that they'll be thinking of a win. All that is in the distance though, the game is beautifully setup for the final day and all we can do is that the weather holds up. The expected narrative, though, is that Australia will bat for at least an hour tomorrow and that'll leave India with too many to get to try and win. Unless something abolutely extraordinary happens, like say, India bowling Australia out really cheaply, that is likely how this game will pan out. Anyway, that's it from us for today, we absolutely cannot wait to get back to the action tomorrow.

17:50 Local Time, 07:50 GMT, 13:20 IST: That's it, the light meter comes out and the umpires tell the players to go off. The day couldn't have ended on a better note for India given their position.
