The celebrations continued in the stands as South Africa's new bowlers bowled superbly to remove three wickets inside 9 overs. The experienced Babar-Rizwan duo survived around an hour late in the day and made sure that Pakistan didn't lose any more wickets. The good news for the visitors is that it's still a good batting pitch with the odd one having uneven bounce. Only a few days ago, we saw Afghanistan's Rahmat Shah and Hashmatullah Shahidi batting an entire day of play against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo. Pakistan will need something similar to get close to their opponent's total. Expect South Africa to be aggressive with their bowling and field placements. This is just the third instance of 300-plus runs being aggregated on each of the first two days of a Test in South Africa post the 2016 New Year’s Test at the same venue. The previous two instances were the two Tests between the hosts and Sri Lanka in Centurion and Johannesburg respectively during the 2020/21 season.
