Sri Lanka's hopes rested on Kusal Mendis, but he was caught between defending and attacking, and ended up top-edging a Lyon off-break to Smith, giving the Australian captain his 200th dismissal in Tests. Kumara and Peiris battled out a couple of on-field reviews and then an umpiring review, but Webster brought it to a shuddering halt as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 231.
