Amanjot Kaur | Player of the Match: Feels really happy and tough to express this feeling in words. I knew that if an offspinner comes to bowl, I can back my strengths. We (Kanika and I) play for the same domestic side and I knew that I had to stay till the end and make sure that 19th over goes big because of my positive match-up. My role with the ball is to bowl stump-to-stump and bowl the variations. Blessed and grateful.
Harmanpreet Kaur: We wanted to play good cricket and we knew that crowd is going to play a big role, so we wanted to stay together. We wanted to chase becuase of the dew. They all know their roles very well and they know when they are going to bowl depending on the match-ups. I just told her (Amanjot) that that was the last over (18th over) for the main bowler and there are no experienced bowlers after that. I knew she is a good player, but does not have that much experience in these situations, so credit to her.
Smriti Mandhana: Can't say one turning point but really proud of the way the girls fought back, we have 2 days and we will think about what went wrong. The first time we batted first in the tournament so we won't be really critical about things today. For us it is important to stay positive in the next 2 days. Ball was coming on pretty well, the outfield is definitely quicker and it had a little bit for the spinners as well. We started well in the powerplay and they started well in the powerplay, but after Hayley got out we thought we had a chance and made it tough in the middle overs and we always felt that we were in the game.
23:02 local, 17:32 GMT, 23:02 IST: The trend of win toss and chase remains intact this season.
