Morning! It was bright and sunny earlier this morning, but it's clouded over now - and, apparently, there could be some rain on the way.Telford Vice from Lord's
The players are out in the middle. Sun is out and batting shouldn't be as tough as it was yesterday. Sana Mir rings the bell and we're set for Day 2
Lord's is baked in sunshine today, word is this should stay around for the rest of the day. There was a bit in the pitch yesterday, some quality fast bowling on display as well. It will still nibble around, it's quite dry though. The mindset should be to show intent, they'll need to play with a positive mindset and take on the bowling. Nathan Lyon could be a key factor in holding the game and support the pacers, freckon Graeme Smith and Mel Jones, in their pitch report
09:45 Local Time, 08:45 GMT, 14:15 IST: On a 14-wicket day, it was Australia who have marginally inched ahead in the battle to decide the World Test champion. Kagiso Rabada's 5-wicket burst had put South Africa ahead, but there were two sizeable contributions from the Australian middle-order - Steve Smith with a typically breezy 66 and Beau Webster with a hard-hitting 72. But Mitchell Starc's fiery opening spell and a wicket apiece for Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood left South Africa reeling at 43 for 4, still 169 behind Australia's 212. In a battle between two bowling powerhouses, it's often the team with better batting resources who edge ahead and it wasn't anything dissimilar at Lord's on the first day of the final. Will conditions get better for batting today? South Africa will certainly hope so.
Webster: Had a bit of luck no doubt in the first 20-30 balls. Felt they came really hard at us. Managed to get through that period and got a total on the board. I've played a little bit over here in County cricket, different level obviously. With Rabada and Jansen coming in here, it was very tough. Just stuck to my gameplan which has worked for me the last 3-4 years. I'd be angry if I went away from it. Obviously some minor adjustments here and there with the conditions and the slope. There's plenty there (in the pitch). We saw in the last session the ball is still nibbling around. Starcy had it on a string. The ball nipping up the slope is the tricky one. The delivery that bowled Stubbsy obviously nipped up the slope. When it's doing that it's tricky for the batter. Our bowling attack's been so strong over a number of years. We know if we don't get it done with the bat, the big guys can certainly get it done with the ball.
