The Mumbai Indians are building up some steam just at the right time. With that win, they’ve surged ahead and all the way up to third place on the points table. It was probably only a matter of time but with Rohit’s return to form and Bumrah’s return to the side, MI are looking like a fearsome side to reckon with. It was the new-ball bowlers that set it up for them before the rest of the side brought the win home. When firing on all cylinders, MI have got unmatched horsepower and it looks like they just might have started to now. Where do SRH go from here? Well, it’s a tough road ahead. It’ll take something remarkable for them to rise up from the depths of that points table. That’s all we’ve got for you tonight. This is Anurag Hegde, Saurabh Shankar, Abhinav Guha, Mukesh HS and A.V Venkatesh signing off. Take care, and goodbye.
Trent Boult | Player of the Match: Just nice to contribute to a good win. Good game for us. To restrict them to a decent score in their home conditions was wonderful. Just wanted to hit the wicket and make the batsmen play good shots, tried to keep it simple and put pressure on the batsmen. Good to see a couple of catches held today. I’d love to bowl four in a row and let it swing but that doesn’t always happen. Need to always be ready for whenever I’m called upon. Slightly different role for me this year. It’s a low percentage ball for me but as some older bowlers would say, nothing could beat a good yorker. I still love the feeling of competing and getting wickets. It’s a huge tournament, there are hundreds of thousands of bowlers who’d love to do what we’re doing so it’s about not taking it for granted.
Hardik Pandya: Good to have wins behind our back. Glad the boys are taking the momentum in the right way. Rohit, Deepak, Boult, SKY, everyone, always felt that once everyone started clicking, it's going to be a complete combination, overall a wonderful win. Captaincy sometimes is about instincts, I like to see the game and react and not always rely on pre-made plans. (On bowling Puthur) At that point, we wanted them to take a chance and give us a wicket. Young guy, hadn’t played a couple of games, was tough for him and I understand. We can get better in all departments, we discussed about being very clinical and very smart. We’ll take it game by game. We’re very satisfied with this win.
Suryakumar Yadav: (On his wife being at the stadium for this game) She has flow down from Mumbai so what more I need, she was here so we had to win. I think it was really important to come out positive as we were playing good cricket and had to continue the momentum, winning four games in a trot is a great feeling. (On Rohit’s brilliant batting) He made my job really easier, I just had to bat with good tempo and him scoring runs is a really great sign for the team. You keep practising these in the nets, I want to continue that in the game and I’m really happy with it.
Pat Cummins: Abhinav and Klassy got us to a good total, but we couldn't get through this innings. Needed a guy to really steady the ship. (On the pitch) You have to build your innings here, if you face a few balls you can catch up. (On the competition in the IPL) Difference between our first game where we got 280 odd and then on the same surface we got rolled over. In T20, the margins are also very little, you need to perform on the given day. (On the road ahead) We have a few away games now, it will be about assessing each wicket as quickly as possible. Some days it will be all out attack, some days it will be about weighing our options.
Stats by Roshan Gede: Rohit in the IPL since 2024 Batting first: 7 inns, 113 runs at 16.14, SR: 143.03 In run-chases: 15 inns, 532 runs at 40.92, SR: 153.31
The last instance of MI registering four or more consecutive wins came during their title winning campaign in 2020 - a five-match streak that was broken in a double Super Over finish against PBKS in Dubai.
Suryakumar Yadav has crossed 25 in each of his nine innings in IPL 2025. There has only been one other instance of more successive 25-plus scores in an IPL edition: Robin Uthappa (10) during KKR’s victorious run in 2014.
