Complete Mumbai Indians won by 20 runs

Player of Match: Rohit Sharma

GT had a brilliant tournament but they just didn't have the momentum to go all the way. A young boy and a young girl in tears from GT contingent - shows how much this loss hurts. Also Vikram Solanki - their team director was sitting by himself head down in disappointment in the dugout. This will sting but they will be a stronger team for this. On that note we wind up our coverage as MI head to Qualifier 2 to face PBKS in Ahmedabad. We will be there to bring that one to you. Do join us then. Till then take care, be well and sleep tight. From everyone here at Cricbuzz towers we are saying ta, ta, bye bye for the night.
Rohit Sharma | Player of the Match: I have got only four fifties. Would have loved to score more fifties. Good day for us as a team. I do understand the importance of playing this Eliminator and going through this and taking the next step forward. Really proud of a complete team effort. When I play the game, I try to do my best keeping everything aside. Making sure how I can do the job for the team. I had to make the most of the luck. I am glad I could do that. Get the team into a good position. It was going to be challenging with the dew coming. The bowlers held their nerves really well. To be honest, I have played those shots before in the tournament and found fielders. Somewhere down the line you got to be lucky and today was that day for me. I got lucky as those catches were dropped. But even after that you got to play. I was focussing on keeping the momentum and tempo going. Was a good bowling effort. Jonny I have watched him over the years from the other side. We know the quality he has. Lot of experience playing in this format. Never looked like he was playing the first game. We got the start and capitalized on it.
Hardik Pandya: At one point of time the game was even-stevens. I thought the wicket got better in the second innings. It started to come on well, they got into rhythm and we realised we need to hold our nerves and back our boys. The way Jonny batted and started.. for him to make his debut for us, it's a special franchise, coming in and playing the way he played. The way Ro batted. He took his time and once he got into rhythm, it was beautiful. The way Gleeson bowled. Jassi being Jassi. Ashwani.. everyone chipped in well and we held our nerves. I would've liked couple more (big hits). The little margins help. We wanted to push in batting and I think we were able to do that. (When to bowl Bumrah?) It's very simple. Whenever you think the game is going away, just bring him (Bumrah). When you have that it's a luxury. It's like Mumbai housing prices - he's that expensive. I was just watching the scoreboard and I thought if we can keep extra runs at the end, I had the bowlers to bowl it. It was important that Jassi comes and bowls that over so that the margin becomes longer (the 18th over). Very important to recover well. Looking forward to the next game.
Ashwani Kumar: The talk was about bowling carefully. The wicket was flat. We might have included a spinner. But then I was introduced as the impact player. Malinga Sir and Paras sir helped me with ideas. I was focussing on my plan. And bowled to my strengths. I just didn't want to bowl a wide or a no-ball while bowling the last three balls. (translated from hindi)
Shubman Gill: Brilliant game of cricket, we were right in it. Last three-four overs didn't go our way but still a good game. Definitely not easy when we drop 3 sitters. Wasn't easy for the bowlers to control and doesn't help when you drop 3 catches. Message was simple (for Sai and Washington). Just play the game you want to play and the goal was the same for both of them to make us win. Because of the dew, the wicket did become little easier for us. Definitely lot of positives for us. Last 2-3 games didn't go our way but credit to all the players, especially Sai - he was terrific for us this season. 210 would've been par for us on this pitch.

Ashwani Kumar to Rashid Khan, no run, MI win and it's a review for LBW. Looks like this has pitched outside the leg-stump. Let's see. No bat and we move on to ball-tracking.
19.5
Ashwani Kumar to Rashid Khan, no run, yorker length outside off, angling away from Rashid Khan, who can't squeeze it out
Rashid Khan, right handed bat, comes to the crease

Ashwani Kumar to Shahrukh Khan, out Caught by Suryakumar Yadav!! Straight to extra-cover. Full outside off, in the slot, Shahrukh Khan picks out extra-cover with the lofted drive, SKY doesn't drop those. Shahrukh Khan c Suryakumar Yadav b Ashwani Kumar 13(7) [6s-1]
Ashwani Kumar to Shahrukh Khan, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
Ashwani Kumar [3.0-0-28-0] is back into the attack
Richard Gleeson is struggling. He is telling the ump that he wants to go off. But he has done his job. Ashwani to finish it off. SKY and Pandya have a chat. Santner too joins in.
19.3
Richard Gleeson to Shahrukh Khan, 2 runs, just two and the game's almost done. Sweeper cover runs to his left and dives, to pull it back it, loses his trousers in the process but that won't matter.
19.2
Richard Gleeson to Shahrukh Khan, no run, wide length delivery well wide outside off, Shahrukh Khan reaches for it and toe-ends it back to Richard Gleeson. That's should be the game. Was a wide had Shahrukh left it
