So MI New York have given themselves a solid chance of qualifying, perhaps even finishing in the top two with today's comprehensive win. That's all for today, we'll be back tomorrow for the game between the Unicorns and the Super Kings. Join us then, bye for now...
Kieron Pollard: The surface was a bit up and down. We can't do anything about it, all we can do is keep our attitude positive. You need to play with a straight bat. Sometimes it can get a bit poisonous to be talking too much about the pitch, we can get into a negative mindset. We took a punt on fielding and they probably got 15 runs too much. But kudos to the guys, we had a conversation on how we want to play, especially against the left-arm seamer. Pooran also coming up the order and finishing the game was fantastic. Sending him up at 3 was always the plan, it was tactical.
Moises Henriques: Back-to-back games are always difficult. We are professionals and we gave it our best. The wicket did play better today but it wasn't the truest. After the powerplay they got, it was always tough to come back from there. (On injuries) Akeal and our keeper, and we lost Glenn as a fielder so a few things didn't go our way. We're still in the finals and we have a few days off, that should be good for us. We will get to learn more about the players and how teams shape up now.
Nicolas Pooran | Player of the Match: Really happy to have contributed. The surface was a bit two-paced, it was a bit tacky. But once we got a good powerplay it made things easier. We set an attacking platform and then I took on the match-ups for me.
Monank Patel: Really happy to contribute, want to keep this momentum going. We wanted to capitalize the powerplay, the new ball was coming on nicely and we wanted to show the positive intent. We came here from the qualifiers, we were in good touch and we just had to turn to a T20 mindset. We want to continue like this in the next game and try to qualify.
20:04 Local Time, 00:04 GMT, 05:34 IST: An above par target and MI New York needed a big start, and that’s exactly what they got with their local openers in Monank Patel and Shayan Jahangir. They took down Netravalkar who was last game’s hero, and scored freely in the powerplay to end strong on 65 runs. Post the powerplay, Hosein knocked over Monank Patel but hurt himself in celebration, temporarily going off the field. That decision proved to be costly, as the skipper had to turn to Pienaar as a filler. New batter Pooran took Pienaar to the cleaners, exploiting three sixes and a four off him. And that made the chase easy, as the asking rate fell under six. The southpaw continued to smash the runs, and got to his 50 in no time. He was also joined by Pollard who struck a few meaty blows of his own. A comprehensive win for MI, a huge boost to their NRR as well. Onto the presentations now..
15.3
Henriques to Pooran, FOUR, game, set, match!! MI New York win with almost 5 overs to spare. A slice of luck for this one as Pooran goes for a big heave to a full delivery outside off and gets an edge that flies towards the third-man boundary.
15.2
Henriques to Pooran, SIX, another one!! This time a length ball on the body, swivel pulled over deep mid-wicket for six more. Just a hit away now...
15.1
Henriques to Pooran, SIX, full outside off, allows Pooran to free his arms and swing through wide long-off. Six more and that's 50 for him!!
Moises Henriques [1.0-0-9-0] is back into the attack
14.6
Netravalkar to Pooran, 1 run, low full toss, driven towards long-on
14.5
Netravalkar to Pollard, 1 run, full on middle stump, clipped towards deep mid-wicket
14.4
Netravalkar to Pollard, FOUR, banged short and quicker, no qualms for Pollard. Pulled towards deep backward square leg for a boundary
14.3
Netravalkar to Pollard, SIX, length ball on off from round the wicket, no pace to trouble Pollard. The burly batter whacks his pull over deep mid-wicket for a sixer!!
14.2
Netravalkar to Pooran, 1 run, good length and wide, slapped down to long-off
