Three playoffs spots are confirmed, one team has been eliminated and the top-2 has been sealed. MI New York and LA Knight Riders will face off tomorrow in a must-win game for both. The former will simply have to win and they'll have to win by a margin of 13 runs (batting first) if they're to leapfrog the Knight Riders and secure that last playoff spot. It should be another cracking game of cricket coming up tomorrow. Do join us for all the action. For now, cheers and bye..
Corey Anderson - This was the goal coming into the competition, give ourselves the best chance of winning the tournament and to do so with one game remaining is special (on finishing in the top-2). We've got good players at the top of the order, the bowlers have been amazing as well. I can go to many people at any point of time - they are not ideal (on the injuries), Couchy might've done his side, will wait for the medical update. But it's part of the game and we have the depth to cope with that. We'll need contributions from the rest of the guys and I'm confident we'll be able to do so.
Heinrich Klaasen - Disappointing, we were in the final last year, this year we didn't bat well, not a lot of firepower. The bowlers were good and did what best they could do. A bit under par, maybe 15-20 runs short and that cost us in the end. Quinny is a special cricketer, he has got that reputation, he's around 32 now, he doesn't care about stats, I'll speak with him and hope that he racks up the runs. We've been poor in this season, disappointing for the franchise and the owners.
Finn Allen | Most Valuable Player - Yeah, I think the way Camie (le Roux) bowled at the top, we asked him to swing at the top, those two wickets were crucial for us. I want to try and be aggressive at the top, put the bowlers under pressure, I went a tad too hard today, but it did help us to kill the game. The conditions were a bit balanced for both batters and bowlers. Shorty is great, we both love to bat with each other, we've a good comfort level. We'll get an extra life (on finishing in the top-2), have Washington on Monday to finish the league games off.
Hassan Khan: That was a big wicket for me, I tried to bowl in the right areas and there was a bit in it for the spinners. As a player, you need to be ready for any situation and I'm confident that whenever the team requires I'm ready to deliver. He (Shane Watson) told me to be fearless and do what I do best. I just try to keep it simple and back myself and really happy with the win.
22:30 Local Time, 03:30 GMT, 09:00 IST: The San Francisco Unicorns have confirmed a top-2 finish, they've dragged the Texas Super Kings into the playoffs as well, the Orcas have been eliminated and that leaves the MI New York and LA Knight Riders fighting it out for the last playoff spot. The chase was never in doubt after Finn Allen's blitzkrieg at the top of the order. His 30-ball 77 all but sealed the deal and he left his mates with the simple thing of finishing the game off. The batting PP was filled with fours and sixes and they were 79 for 0 at the end of it. Matt Short was a mere onlooker, but the opening pair took the match away from Orcas's grasp. They did lose a few wickets, but the result was a foregone conclusion by then.
