Six wins in six matches and SFU are through to the playoffs. With four more matches to go and the way they are playing, they're favourites to finish in the top-two. Seattle Orcas, on the other hand, have now lost all their five matches. They lost their last five matches of the previous season as well. So that's 10 losses on the bounce now. They aren't still out of the competition but they need to pull off something miraculous to make a comeback. On that note, it's curtains down on this encounter between the top-placed side against the bottom-placed side. Tune in tomorrow for Los Angeles Knight Riders vs Washington Freedom. Until then, goodbye...
Short: We had a great start to the tournament and we move on to the next match. Last few games, we played to our best abilities. We were a little bit off today, Romario was brutal for us. They came pretty hard with the bat. Credit to the bowlers, they held their heads up and kept picking wickets. Couple of days off, plenty of golf.
Romario: The coach told us to hold a bit. We got a good total on the board. I love batting, hitting sixes is the best part about batting for me. They were bowling me. Gerald was batting really well. It's really good, I am not surprised with the results.
Heinrich Klaasen: Shepy (Shepherd) came out and played a good innings. We were quite with that (total), maybe 10-20 runs too much but we were quite happy to chase it. It's tough in this format to generate too much form by playing almost backward like playing like a one-day innings. You have to play the game quite positively and hopefully the wheel just turns. The only hope is that you hold onto it if you are hitting the ball nicely which a lot of the guys are doing. We just keep finding fielders. As long as we keep hitting the ball nicely, our mindsets are positive, hopefully the wheel will turn. I have heard about him (Shayan Jahangir), he had a good series before this tournament started. We haven't seen a lot from him that's why he probably missed the first game. We had another look at him and he's brilliant. He's quite aggressive at the top of the order. You can hear if off the bat, he's a good player. Hopefully he can kick on, he's getting good starts but we need him to get big scores. We are still very much in it to get to the playoffs. The three teams at the bottom are not playing good cricket at this moment and they are all just one or two games away from getting into that playoff spot. Hopefully the other teams lose and we can get on to a little bit of a run, there are still 4-5 games left for us. Hopefully four games can put us close by.
In reply, the Orcas got off to a brisk start. They were 59/0 at the end of the powerplay with Shayan Jahangir doing the bulk of the scoring.
