Another season of MLC and now MINY are two-time champs. The MLC keeps getting bigger and better. This season we had three venues and grander plans are on the anvil as we look forward to next season. We had a ball bringing you all the action from this tournament. Hope you have enjoyed our coverage. It's time to sign off now. On behalf of everyone here at Cricbuzz, we take your leave. Before that there's lots of cricket on our platform. Do follow all of those. For now it's bye bye from all of us. Take care and be well. See you soon.
Pooran now goes to receive the MLC Trophy. And the MINY team pose with it for the shutterbugs. Lots of smiles and happy faces there. Some are biting their championship medals as they soak it all in. Everyone will get a chance to hold the trophy and pose for photos. Confetti all around as the celebrations continue.
Nicholas Pooran: Amazing feeling. To win this tournament after a challenging journey. We had that belief, when things weren't going our way. To win this now is an unreal feeling. The journey is always stressful, that's the beautiful thing about sports. With the support of the coach, Polly and the senior guys, it was not a one guy show, lot of the senior players stepped up and that is important for this group. Rushil has grown from strength to strength. When he played this team in his first game, he got hit for a couple of sixes. Throughout the tournament he has gotten better. Both him and Tristan did well, they grabbed the opportunity with both hands. Huge credit to the two. Before the over he asked me what I'm thinking, I asked him what he was thinking. We go by our instincts. We have to trust the local and international players. This is our 6th win in the last over and really happy to come out on top in those situations. MI and winning, sounds good! We set high standards and no wonder they are the most successful franchise. We love winning.
Winners' medals being presented to MINY right now.
Mitchell Owen: Would have been nice to replicate some of that tonight. Didn't go our way. I'm very grateful for the opportunity Freedom gave me to bat at the top of the order and also with the ball. It is tough right now after having the tournament we had and falling at the final hurdle but grateful for the opportunity.
Mitchell Owen is the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Chris Gayle presents Owen with a trophy.
Monank Patel gets an award for the most runs in the tournament.
Xavier Bartlett gets an award for taking the most wickets in the tournament.
Monank Patel: I was following the advice of my batting coach and my team coach. I wanted to be disciplined from the first game and luckily it worked out. One batter had to take the responsibility of batting 40-50 balls and I did that. I know my game, if I take 15-20 balls, I express myself and play my shots. (batting with De Kock) It's a very chill vibe, we enjoy each other's company in the middle.
Monank Patel is the domestic player of the tournament.
Rushil Ugarkar is the Under-23 player of the tournament too.
Rushil Ugarkar | Most Valuable Player of the match: It still is setting in slowly and slowly but really excited. (on the plans for the last over) I told him (Pooran) I know what I'm doing. I felt the wicket was really slow and wanted to make use of the off-cutters. When the tournament started, I kept getting hit but I focussed on my plans.
We are all set for the post-match presentation.
Maxwell: Doesn't fell good. Hasn't quite sunk in. Such a good tournament. Probably the front runner for a long period. Bitter pill to swallow. Credit to MINY. I thought we did a good job to claw it back with the ball. The conditions just suited him (Ugarkar). He bowled really well.
McClenaghan | bowling coach: Super proud. We played six games and the way they stood up, couldn't be more proud of the youngsters.
