That's a wrap to our coverage of today's MSL action. A moderately high-scoring game that had its share of thrills all along. Do join us tomorrow for more action from the league. Until then, it's goodbye from us.
Smuts, winning captain: I think we'll take that. Two top run chases at home. We batted really well through those two superb partnerships. We had a bit of luck going our way today and we made use of it. Special to have the crowd behind us and they're definitely our 12th man.
Dunk, Player of the Match: Really special innings from Marais there to come straightaway and the play the way he did at the back end. Treat to see this young South African talents coming up. Was tricky early on and I also got some luck there. I'd like to say a tough track to get started on, they bowled well. We tried to hang in there till the back end and Marais played a beautiful innings to get us across the line. Don't think we would have gotten home if not for him.
Klaasen, losing captain: If we give a guy like Dunk plenty of chances, that's what happens. He batted exceptionally well but he put a few chances as well. We batted really well. The openers did well, and AB obviously produced what he does. We had a good finish as well. I think we bowled extremely well at the start but then we put a chance down. Bosch did well at the back end. Need to get back to the drawing board as quickly as possible. Need to recap quickly and sort it out.
21:00 Local Time, 19:00 GMT, 00:30 IST: Phew! What a run chase! A roller-coaster ride it truly was and in the end, the Giants had the right amount of luck to get across the line. Chasing a stiff target, they lost early wickets and seemed stuck at one point before Dunk came to the party. He was dropped several times and had many edges falling safe but in between, produced some outrageous strokes as well. His partnership with ten Doeschate repaired things but it was the stand with Marais that turned the game around dramatically. The duo ensured that they stayed till the very end to produce the finishing touches. Dunk ended up on 99 not out, agonizingly close to a special ton but he wouldn't be too worried about that. The Spartans will rue the messy fielding effort that cost them this game. They had this game in the bag, only to let it slip. Credit to the Giants though, they kept fighting and as they say, fortune favours the brave.

van der Merwe to Marais, FOUR, there's the winning hit! Flattish low full toss and Marais carves it away through the stacked off-side field, and it races away to the fence. Giants have created a heist here!
19.3
van der Merwe to Marais, no run, walks down the pitch and drills this full toss but straight to cover. Dot ball
Absolute scenes here. The floodlights went off as soon as they took the single but only a momentary glitch as the lights come back on.
19.2
van der Merwe to Ben Dunk, 1 run, no, he cannot do it now! How unselfish of Dunk who drives this to sweeper cover to get a single
Here's a chance for Ben Dunk to get the milestone and the winning hit, both in one shot.
19.1
van der Merwe to Marais, 1 run, fired in, cramps Marais who gets an inside edge to the left of Klaasen who makes a decent stop going across. Can't prevent the single though and the crowd chant in delight because Ben Dunk is back on strike
Roelof van der Merwe [2.0-0-18-0] is back into the attack
The home crowd is roaring in approval as they sense a win. Just three more required off the final over. The only mystery here is if Ben Dunk can get to his maiden T20 century or not. RvD to bowl the final over.
18.6
Corbin Bosch to Marais, 1 run, a searing yorker and Marais digs it out off the inside half of the blade. Trickles towards the leg-side as they pinch a single
18.5
Corbin Bosch to Ben Dunk, 1 run, low full toss outside off, sliced away towards deep backward point
